Garenne Construction Group was recognised at the recent Construction News Awards in London for its supply chain excellence and community engagement, receiving two Highly Commended Awards for the introduction of DEC! into the school curriculum and for the Nightingale Hospital project in 2020.
It is a significant achievement to be recognised at this highly respected and competitive event as the biggest names in the industry enter their best work on development projects across the UK and Ireland.
Executive Director, Marc Burton, said, “To receive two accolades for supply chain excellence and community engagement on a national scale really emphasises how Garenne is working to shape and develop the construction industry in the Channel Islands. It was an honour to receive such positive comments from the judges for our work in developing careers in construction through working with Skills Jersey and introducing the DEC! programme, as well as the Nightingale build being described as ‘exceptional’.
The judges’ comments about each category were as follows:
Community Engagement Project of the Year – DEC! Developing Careers in Construction in Jersey
“A wonderful legacy being created for the community of Jersey, with a clear focus on improving educational options and access to the construction sector as a driver for future economic growth, creating a sustainable workforce for generations to come.”
Supply Chain Excellence - Nightingale
“An incredible project, and an exceptional one due to the considerations and pressures the team were working within and the numerous barriers that the industry typically faces were broken down by a combined objective.”
Marc Burton concluded: “I would like to thank every individual who played their part in both projects. I am so proud of what has been and is continued to be achieved by the team both at Garenne and all our partners.”
