Pupils from Guernsey and Herm have been enjoying adventures at sea with Conrad Humphreys over the last two weeks and the Garenne Construction Group were proud to support this initiative.
Conrad brought his boat, the Bounty’s End to Guernsey so that the students have an opportunity to sail in it and get a taste of what Captain Bligh experienced after he and eight other men were cast adrift in a 23ft open boat following the mutiny of HMS Bounty in 1789.
Conrad himself knows what Captain Bligh experienced having recreated the experience for a recent Channel 4 series.
The Garenne Construction Group have been working with the Guernsey Sailing Trust for a number of years and feel that these opportunities offer students a chance to develop teamwork and communication skills that one day might be used in their working life in Construction or another career.
