GSRM Ltd has been selected as the preferred contractor to undertake pre-construction services in the £42m scheme to reconfigure Jersey Airport.
GSRM is a joint venture between Garenne Infrastructure (part of the Garenne Construction Group) and Sir Robert McAlpine Limited. Having worked together on previous projects in Jersey and being both family-run businesses, it seemed a natural partnership as the team from Sir Robert McAlpine will be able to benefit from Garenne's knowledge and experience of working in Jersey and the Jersey team can gain the knowledge of having an experienced airport team working with them.
The £42m major works programme budget is not just focused on the creation of a new integrated two-storey arrivals and departures terminal but will include in due course the relocation of the Airport Rescue & Fire Fighting Service building, improvements to the aircraft stands and taxiways, demolition of the former Jersey hangar as well as the eventual removal of the existing arrivals terminal building.
Work is scheduled to commence before the end of the year and continue until 2021.
